As the calendar reset in January, we have come into new information on accidents in local areas. According to the Austin American-Statesman, Round Rock reported a total of 2,651 accidents in 2016. Among those accidents, seven resulted in fatalities, and 40 accidents resulted in serious injuries incapacitating passengers.
This total number of accidents is up over 10% from the previous year. The reason, according to the Round Rock Police Department, is the drastic increase in population.
One of the most dangerous areas is, not surprisingly, Interstate 35, where drivers often fail to control their speed and follow too closely to other vehicles resulting in serious rear end collisions. Another common location, according to the article, is University Boulevard, which is an area that has been booming due to increased development. Also, the intersection of A.W. Grimes Boulevard and Gattis School Road is a particularly dangerous intersection as "people often fail to yield the right of way on a flashing yellow light and crash into oncoming traffic."
Let these data sets remind you to be careful and attentive on the road. And, if you are unfortunately injured in an accident, we're here to help.
